A letter, 1826 March 26, from Grant to Felicia Dorothea Hemans, praises Hemans on her book of poetry, "Forest Sanctuary," sent by the author, and describes a poem she herself began working on fifty years ago. She also sends condolences on a death in the family, and mentions various people. A letter, 1829 February 27, from Grant to Andrews Norton, discusses a recent visit of Norton to Scotland, comments on the poet, Felicia Dorothea Hemans, and mentions "Notions of the Americans," "Life of Lord Collingwood, " "Journal and Letters of Bishop Heber, " and the criticism of Lockhart's "Life of Burns" in the Edinburgh Review by Thomas Carlyle. Also laments trials of old age, sends greetings to American friends. A letter of introduction to Thomas Carlyle is present .
